Userful Management Team
Userful's Management Team
Founder and CTO (Chief Technology Officer)
While managing a growing web-development company before starting Userful, Tim saw firsthand the huge time and expense that PC management took on his company each time they added a new employee to the team. This formed the genesis of the idea for multiplied and cloud-managed desktops – an idea that began as a research project and eventually culminated in the founding of Userful, a company focused on making it easy and affordable for anyone to deploy and manage a fleet of green, low-cost, high-performance, interactive screens and desktop computers.
Today, Tim is responsible for the vision, strategy and direction of current and new Userful products for Cloud-Managed Zero Client computing solutions. Tim is leading the company's charge to eliminate the wasted time, money and power that organizations pour into antiquated approaches to delivering their desktops and interactive endpoint infrastructure.
Tim holds a Masters Degree in Product Design from the University of Calgary where he focused on human computer interaction. He is a serial entrepreneur, having founded and led various consulting, research, and design companies prior to Userful.
In his years before founding Userful, Tim conducted pioneering research into laptop and input device design. He also performed and taught as a professional cellist and co-authored a book on the subject.
Alan joined Userful as VP Operations in January 2009, later became General Manager, and in Sept 2012, President. Alan is leading the company's expansion through global OEMs and into broader uses of cloud-managed zero-client end-points.
He has over 25 years of experience in product development, management and business development, including work with Aksys Networks (VoIP phones), Rydex Industries (communications software), INETCO Systems (protocol and transaction software), and Global Thermoelectric (thermoelectric generators and fuel fired heaters). Over the last 15 years, Alan has been involved in the senior management of early stage companies, including AutoBranch Technologies Inc. (ATM business) which he co-founded in 1999, and as Chief Operating Officer of Aksys Networks.
VP Multiplied Computing
In his role as VP of Multiplied Computing, Dan is responsible for Userful's India office and for advancing a number of Userful's strategic partnerships worldwide. Dan was instrumental in building a successful business unit for the company, providing managed desktop solutions to libraries in North America.
Along with years of sales and customer service experience, Dan brings a wealth of systems re-engineering, change management and team leadership experience to the company. From 2000-2003, prior to joining Userful, he led the project to integrate LexisNexis' print and electronic delivery departments and systems. The successful project retrained 110 FTEs and integrated three product delivery systems. Also while at LexisNexis, Daniel managed a team of 11 FTEs that were responsible for delivery of $3 million in products and a budget of $750,000.
