Userful Receives Product of the Year in inaugural Modern Library Awards

Userful Desktop voted Product of the Year from LibraryWorks, Inc. for simple, safe and affordable public computing solution

January 22, 2015, Calgary, AB -- Userful, an industry-leader in desktop virtualization, is pleased to announce it has received the Product of the Year Award from LibraryWorks, Inc.’s inaugural Modern Library Awards (MLAs).

The MLAs were created to recognize the top products in the library industry. Products were submitted in the fall and then were posted on a private site open for voting by up to 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic, and special libraries, resulting in a truly unbiased score. Any librarian who had experience with a product was eligible to judge and Userful Desktop was awarded platinum distinction for Product of the Year, with the highest score of 9.5 out of 10.

“We couldn’t be more happy to be given this honor,” said Tim Griffin, founder and CTO of Userful. “The fact that our customers gave such resounding support for our product, makes this award all the more special. Userful Desktop eliminates much of the traditional cost and stress associated with deploying computers for public use. We hear time and again from our customers that it’s saved them both money and IT time, and we’re looking forward to keeping up that great track record.”

Userful Desktop virtualization solution allows libraries to easily deploy more public access computers with less hardware, less maintenance, less money, and greater control over the desktop experience. Key features include:

  • Up to twenty desktops powered through one PC to drastically reduce hardware, software and electricity costs
  • A locked-down desktop that is tamper-proof and immune from viruses and malware, and includes time and print management as well as other public computing features
  • Full support, including patches, upgrades and updates, as well as friendly, toll-free telephone support to reduce the time library IT staff spend maintaining and supporting public computers

Jennifer Newman, Associate Publisher, LibraryWorks, Inc., and MLA Program Manager said, “I was thrilled when I saw that Userful Desktop was awarded Product of the Year … and not surprised. With a product so easy to use, right out of the box, Userful Desktop takes public computing to another level.”
