Userful announces Open Source Pre-Book

Press Release: August 2nd, 2007

Calgary, AB-Calgary-based Userful Corporation is proud to announce the Open Source release of its PreBook PC booking and reservation and usage management system. PreBook allows libraries, Internet cafes, and universities to manage and track usage on both Windows and Linux client PCs, efficiently controlling time and usage on their computers. Customers use PreBook to manage all their computers through a single web-based interface, saving hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars over competing products.

"PreBook is the perfect computer time management solution for public computers in libraries, schools, and internet cafes." says Tim Griffin, President of Userful. "Customers enjoy significant time and cost savings from PC time management, as well as advanced reservation features, and convenient, intuitive user interfaces. Competitors typically charge thousands of dollars for the kind of sophisticated features offered by PreBook in a Free, Open Source download."

Administrators will benefit from having a single install CD, including both operating system and reservation system, saving time and effort. Flexible options and clients for both Windows and Linux means different operating systems can be managed from a single point, eliminating duplication of resources.

"Userful is also excited at the opportunity to build a community around PreBook" says Corey Burger, Open Source Community Manager of Userful. "The community will not only be able to further extend PreBook for their own needs, but also help anyone, technical or not, to take advantage of PreBook"
