ThinNetworks as Exclusive Reseller for Userful in Brazil
CALGARY, AB (May 19, 2005) - As part of an exciting global marketing agreement, Userful (www.userful.com) and ThinNetworks (http://www.thinnetworks.com.br/) announced today an agreement in which ThinNetworks will be the exclusive master reseller for Userful in Brazil.
This marks a major milestone in Userful's drive to increase its reseller network. President of Userful, Tim Griffin, states, "We're very excited about this partnership. ThinNetworks brings a strong understanding of the Brazilian market with 400 sub-resellers and a great deal of experience building and selling multi-user systems. Linux on the Desktop will grow exponentially in the coming years and Desktop Multiplier offers further competitive advantages, particularly into countries like Brazil where the affordable desktop computing is of central importance to the growth and success of this nation."
Formerly available only as an integrated hardware-based solution, Userful's Desktop Multiplier software is now available as a simple software add-on to increase the overall cost-effectiveness of Desktop Linux. Simply by installing extra video cards into an ordinary computer box, Userful's Desktop Multiplier software instantly enables up to ten people to work simultaneously at fully independent workstations using regular monitors, USB keyboards and mice.
Founded in 1999, Userful is an independent software vendor that has been selling their unique approach to multi-user computing. Desktop Multiplier software is compatible with current versions of Novell/Suse, RedHat, Fedora, Sun Java Desktop, Mandriva, Xandros, Ubuntu, and many more. It creates a powerful and compelling enhancement for any Desktop Linux deployment.
ThinNetworks' President, Luiz Ferreira, also foresees great success for Userful products in Brazil: "We are excited to become Userful?s exclusive reseller for the Brazilian market. After years of working with Windows-based multi-user solutions, we still could not find a similar offering for Linux. The growth of the demand for Linux-based systems is increased even further due to new government directives to migrate every desktop to open-software solutions. By working with Userful?s products such as Desktop Multiplier and Desktop Server, we expect that we can attend to this demand with high quality, low-cost solutions, and that we can also provide significant TCO reduction. Userful's DiscoverStation is a solution that fits perfectly for some of our upcoming projects such as ?digital-inclusion? for the public education sector."
For the past three years, Userful has been transforming the world of desktop computing with their unique ten-to-one multi-desktop software. Userful's innovation of turning one computer into ten has earned them the status of technology leaders in the field of desktop computing. With this compelling advantage, Userful has gained a strong presence in the library market; its mission is to become the dominant platform for affordable desktop computing worldwide.
Userful's customers include libraries, academic institutions, Internet cafes and commercial businesses across North America, and is sold globally through a network of resellers.
