Userful Wins 2019 BIG Innovation Award For Innovations in Visual Networking
uClient Application with LG webOS Signage Support Recognized as Breakthrough for Hardware-Free Visual Communication Solutions on Smart Displays
February 5th, 2019
Userful Corporation, a leading provider of AV-over-IP solutions for enhanced video communication since 2015, has been awarded a 2019 BIG Innovation Technology Award for its breakthrough uClient digital signage application.
Determined by a top panel of business leaders and experts, the BIG Innovation Awards from the Business Intelligence Group recognize those technologies, organizations and people who bring new disruptive ideas to life. uClient runs on the LG webOS Signage platform, turning smart commercial displays from LG Electronics into flexible, scalable visual displays that can be centrally managed with no additional hardware. It is the first solution to support video wall management in its many forms.
The uClient app loads directly onto commercial LG smart displays and eliminates hardware-based thin clients, media players, cables, extenders and other hardware typically required to display content on screens throughout an organization. It enables communication and collaboration ranging from a single video display to a global multi-site deployment with thousands of displays and sources—all centrally managed from the cloud. Regarded as a disruptor of the digital signage industry and an enabler in new corporate display applications, this breakthrough approach enables low-cost, high-performance solutions like the industry has never seen.
“Video walls, digital signage and related visual displays are vital tools for a variety of business needs—from process automation and operational productivity to improved customer engagement and internal communication,” said John Marshall, CEO of Userful. “As one part of our visual networking platform, uClient significantly reduces the TCO (total cost of ownership) by eliminating unnecessary third party hardware, simplifying scalability for additional displays, and delivering content directly from the cloud. Together with LG, we’re now at a place where compute, software, and IP networks can solve many of the problems that required costly hardware and proprietary AV solutions in the past.”
The uClient app connects the Userful visual networking platform with the family of LG Smart Displays, and includes a wide range of advanced features, such as zones, scheduling, cloud storage space, display synching for video walls, and more.
”The integration of Userful’s uClient and LG’s webOS Signage platform provides a compelling solution for video communications across the enterprise, bringing unparalleled flexibility and effectiveness by eliminating unnecessary hardware and delivering content directly from the cloud,” says Clark Brown, vice president, digital signage, LG Business Solutions. “The BIG Innovation Technology Award recognizes how our partners like Userful are innovating with solutions that have a significant impact on various markets across the country.”
“This year’s winners show just how deep a role innovation plays in nearly every aspect of business,” said Maria Jimenez, chief operating officer of the Business Intelligence Group. “We are thrilled to be honoring Userful as they are leading by example and making real progress on improving the daily lives of so many.”
